Rachael Carman had it going on – or so she thought. After surviving sixty-three months of pregnancy, countless sleepless nights, and 35,000+ diapers, this one-time control freak encountered God’s grace. And she encourages you to do the same!
In her books How Many Times Do I Have to Tell You? and How to Have a HEART for Your Kids, Rachael challenges women to surrender their will and draw closer to their heavenly Father. She invites them to join her in loving God passionately and worshiping him fully while sweeping up Cheerios, doing laundry, and planning dinner. You will be affirmed as Rachael speaks of her struggles with perfectionism and impatience and shares her challenges, failures, and victories amid the ever-changing seasons of life. Her honesty will surprise you, and her humor will put you at ease.
Rachael is not only a respected author but is also a sought-after speaker. She has spoken across the United States as well as in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
She has been married to her husband, Davis, since 1986. Together, their life has been a roller-coaster ride, with God at the controls. They have seven kids with whom they love to laugh. Rachael enjoys playing in the dirt, eating dark chocolate, and walking on the beach. She and Davis are the owners of Apologia Educational Ministries.
Zan Tyler is the director of Apologia Press, where her goal is to support homeschooling parents by bringing them the very best in authors and biblically-sound resources. A longtime speaker, writer, and homeschooling advocate, Zan derives deep joy from speaking to and encouraging homeschooling parents across the country and around the globe. “After speaking at a conference in Japan, I spent time with a mother who said ‘You gave me strength because you gave me Christ.’ My heart soared because my greatest desire is to give parents a sustainable vision for raising their children for Christ while providing them the very best education.” She is also the author of 7 Tools for Cultivating Your Child’s Potential.
Zan and her husband Joe homeschooled their three children from kindergarten through high school, for a total of 21 years. When she began homeschooling in 1984 she was threatened with jail by the South Carolina State Superintendent of Education. After prolonged legal battles for the rights of her family and homeschoolers in her state, Zan founded the South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools (SCAIHS) in 1990 and served as its president for ten years. She has been honored as the South Carolina Homemaker of the Year, and in 1998 the governor awarded her the Order of the Palmetto, the highest South Carolina honor a civilian can receive. She has appeared on NBC’s Today Show with Katie Couric.
More recently Zan has served as the National Grassroots Director for ParentalRights.org. She is also a popular columnist, and her articles appear in a variety of online and print publications including HSLDA’s. Zan is also the South Carolina Ambassador for The Home School Foundation, a ministry dedicated to helping homeschool families in need.
Sherri Seligson is wife to her husband, David, mother to four grown children, marine biologist, daughter, sister, friend, but first and foremost a disciple of Christ. God has given Sherri many opportunities to grow and mature in her faith during her marriage of 28 years and through raising her children.
Sherri became a Christian in college, interestingly while she was taking a required pre-med course, entitled “Evolution.” Consequently, she was reading her Bible for the first time while also reading Darwin’s Origin of Species evolutionary text. This began her journey into Christian apologetics, and her love for seeking God’s fingerprints in creation.
Before Sherri was promoted to the position of “mother,” she worked as a marine biologist at Walt Disney World and continues to write science curriculum today. She sees true value and importance in our unique roles as women, wives, and mothers. Sherri loves to encourage women to understand their significance in Christ – how He is pursuing THEM!
An international speaker, Sherri has a motivated heart to teach women how to love and live on God’s Word as they enjoy the blessings that come from Him!
